Beat the Blogger Goes Gladiator Style

Jimmy James 70 Says Beat the Blogger is going Gladiator-style. No longer are tokens up for grabs, but now if you show your worthiness and defeat your challengers in 10 different matches, you'll win a game of your choice.* Also, the current Gladiator will be showcased in the right-column of this blog; along with details of their conquests.

Here are the details:

• We will try and schedule a new tournement once each week


• The current Gladiator, challenger & I choose game, date & time


• Gladiator must face off against a new challenger each week


• If the Challenger loses, they can play again when a new Gladiator is named


• If a Gladiator is beat, that person is eligible to challenge the new Gladiator


• Challengers are determined by whoever leaves a comment on the appropriate post


• If the Gladiator wins 10 matches in a row (10 different tournaments), they win a game. *You can request any game you want, but the disclaimer is that I'm going to request it through Goozex using my own points and tokens.*


• Matches will be a combination of Free for All & Team Deathmatch


• We will play for 30 minutes


• Whoever has the most points (tops the leaderboards the most) at the end wins


• I will be the judge and I will play. Think of me as the lion that gets between the Gladiator and the Challenger

To get started, we need to determine a Gladiator!

To enter the contest:

• Simply leave a comment stating that you want to participate


• Tell me your Goozex User Name


• Send a friend request to Jimmy James 70 on the Xbox 360

You must be a member of Goozex in good standing to play. If you are not a member of Goozex, and you want to participate, signing up is free and you get a token when you register.

Keep in mind, I am available to host the tournaments between 1:30 and 3pm PST and anytime after 8pm PST. For those of you on the East coast, that's 4:30pm to 6pm and after 11pm.

Jimmy James 70 Says The second CoD4 Tourney took place last night. Goozex member Black Fox Zulu took top honors and went home with an extra 5 tokens in his account.

The competition is getting fierce as we doubled in size since the first tournament. Uh huh. That's right. There were two competitors this week as compared to only one.

Updates to Beat the Blogger

Jimmy James 70 Says For this week's Beat the Blogger, we are going to take a slightly different approach. To win 5 tokens, this is what you have to do: at the end of one of the posts this week, I will make a special Editors' Note stating to write a comment, answer a quick and easy question about that particular post, and to leave your Goozex user name. The post you have to comment on could appear at anytime during the week. So, yep, you'll have to read each and every post all week long to see when the special Editors' note appears.

Next Week
For next week, Jimmy James 70 (yours truly) will host another CoD4 Tournament on the Xbox 360 on September 19 at 8:30pm pst. The same rules from before will apply: we will play Free for All for one hour, whoever tops the leaderboards the most during that one hour will win 5 tokens. PS3 CoD: WaW Tournament
Kube00 has agreed to host a game tournament on the PS3. His game of choice is CoD: WaW. Details will be posted in the coming weeks.

Jimmy James 70 Says I noticed today that the RSS feed numbers for The Goozex Report recently shot up. To celebrate this minor accomplishment, the first person to write a comment stating why they like reading The Goozex Report will recieve 5 tokens (and don't forget to leave your Goozex User name). That's right, having an RSS feed just paid off!

And yes, this is how BtB will work for this week. Stay tuned next week for more opportunities to win tokens.

CoD4 Tournament Winner | Beat the Blogger

The first CoD4 Tournament was held today and the winner is Goozex member Duddy07. Even though Duddy07 has mad CoD4 skills, he won by default, cause the other Goozers didn't show up to play. Oh well, all the better for Duddy07. Enjoy those tokens!

Looking at the poll, it looks like CoD4 is the overwhelming favorite game of choice. So, for next week, we'll play CoD4 again.

In your comments, leave your preferences for a date and time. I can play either between 1 and 3pm PST or after 8pm PST. And that goes for pretty much any day of the week.

In other news, I am still trying to organize a PS3 version of Beat the Blogger, but it's not as easy cause I don't own a PS3. If all of you want to pitch in and buy me one that would be great, or we can petition Sony to comp me one. Let me know if you want to band together on this.

First Beat the Blogger Occurred Today

The first Beat the Blogger took place this afternoon and jimmy james 70 basically got served by Goozer solidsnake222, who is a huge Metal Gear Solid fan. He almost had me talked into buying a PS3 just to play Metal Gear Solid and Drakes Fortune. We shall see if I fork out $300 for a new console. In the meantime, I'm waiting for Sony to send me a complimentary console...

solidsnake222 won 5 tokens by beating me at CoD4, while he's more than welcome to keep competing in BtB, he is disqualified from winning any more tokens for one year. That should give you other Goozers an opportunity to win.

For you PS3 fans, there is a plan in the works to have a BtB tourney on the PS3, which might be Sept 12. Stay tuned for more information.

Call of Duty 4 Tournament | Beat The Blogger

jimmy james 70 will host a Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360)Tournament on Saturday, September 5 at 2:00PM PST. Here's the breakdown:

• Send me (jimmy james 70) a friend request (Xbox 360)and include your Goozex user name between now and 1:00PM PST on Saturday


• We will play Free For All for one hour


• Whoever tops the leaderboards the most often during that hour will win 5 Goozex tokens

To try and make it fair, the winner from this tournament will be disqualified to win future tournaments for one year. If you play in this tournament and don't win, then feel free to try again next week.

If you're not a member of Goozex, and you want to compete, then simply sign up for free and you'll get a free token.

Introducing "Beat the Blogger"

Beat the Blogger is a chance for new Goozex members, and existing Goozex members, to win tokens. Goozers will compete against jimmy james 70 (yours truly) on the Xbox 360. The games will change from time to time, but this week we are playing Madden NFL 10. Chances are, if you're the lucky contestant, you'll beat me. I haven't won an online match yet…

You have to be a member of Goozex to participate. If you're not already a Goozer, then membership is free and you'll receive a token upon signing up. You can sign up here.

If you beat me at Madden, then you'll win five tokens.

To enter and win the contest, be the first person to leave a comment and answer a simple Goozex Report trivia question.
